Research Associate/Analyst

PIAA is the insurance industry trade association that represents a full range of entities doing business in the medical professional liability (MPL) arena. These include domestic and international MPL insurance companies, risk retention groups, captives, trusts, and other entities. PIAA membership is open to MPL enterprises owned and/or operated by physicians, hospitals, health systems, dentists and oral maxillofacial surgeons, podiatrists, chiropractors, and healthcare providers such as nurse practitioners, nurse midwives, CRNAs, and many others, as well as insurance carriers with a substantial commitment to the MPL line. PIAA members insure more than two-thirds of America's private practicing physicians as well as dentists, nurses and nurse practitioners, and other healthcare providers and provide indemnification and other services to more than 400,000 healthcare professionals around the world. PIAA members also insure more than 3,000 hospitals.

PIAA’s workshops and meetings are designed specifically for professionals in the medical professional liability (MPL) field and feature leading industry experts. These events explore a wide range of topics to help MPL professionals stay on top of critical developments and discover new and better ways of doing business. PIAA conducts approximately 11 workshops/meetings, 8 webinars, and an assortment of other board and committee meetings per year.

Position Summary:

National healthcare industry trade association based in Rockville, Maryland has an immediate opening for an experienced, enthusiastic and highly organized Research Program Associate/Analyst. This mid-level position reports to the VP of Research & RM. As a key member of the Research Department, the Research Program Associate/Analyst will specialize in print and online content management, assist in conducting member surveys, respond to frequent Association member inquiries and provide general administrative support to the VP of R & RM. Responsibilities include developing and producing quarterly and biannual research newsletters; editing technical reports; assisting VP in coordinating research programs; disseminating information to staff, members and stakeholders, maintaining general electronic files as required by the research dept, and coordinating two scientific meetings annually. Writing responsibilities may include continuing education materials for health professionals, journal submissions, patient/physician education (print and online), and responses to member inquiries. All projects will be attributable to PIAA, no authorship assigned. The ideal candidate has a background in scientific writing, healthcare, medical terminology, journalism, and/or a related discipline. Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in science and/or 5-8 years of related experience preferred. Position requires excellent independent writing, editing, proofreading, and electronic organizational skills. Proficiency with graphic design software or Microsoft suite (in particular Excel, Powerpoint, and Word). An understanding of databases, survey design, and project management preferred. Position requires strong attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines, and excellent project management skills. Competitive salary and benefits.
